Abstract We present an intervention strategy that can be useful both to teach physics in a multi or interdisciplinary way as well as for scientific dissemination purposes. From a script for a play in which we explore a historical section of the life of the physicist Galileo Galilei, we propose the creation of a group of Scientific Theater. We applied the proposal in a secondary school, succeeding in involving a group of students in the stages related to the construction and presentation of the piece: writing / adaptation of the script, study of the characters and their historical and sociocultural context, construction of costumes and scenarios, Concepts in Theater and, finally, the presentation of the play to an audience. The implementation of the strategy followed the steps that generated a didactic sequence, which contains guidelines for teachers who wish to carry out the idea. We held two workshops, one reading and one theory and practice in Theater. Participants studied the script and explored both the concepts and physical principles addressed there, and, in the historical cut, social and cultural aspects of that time. We present the play to an audience of basic education students. Questionnaires were applied to the participants, before and after the intervention. From the results obtained, it is believed that the proposal has the potential to improve the learning of subjects in Physics in schools. As a perspective, it is hoped that more theatrical scripts will be elaborated exploring varied themes in Physics, for example, Thermodynamics, Electromagnetism, Quantum Physics and Relativity where biographies of great scientists, socio-political-economic conjunctures in which scientific revolutions took place present a huge range of possibilities for the intended purpose.
